Coding & labeling for food and beverage
Best-before dates, batch codes and carton marking for food and beverage lines — including IP65 printers for wet and dusty areas and large-character printers for outer cartons.
01 Coding challenges
What needs marking in food & beverage
Food and beverage is the sector PACODE names most often: on its About page and on the X1JET HP, X1JET MX, X2JET / X4JET, Integra One IP, Integra PP 108, Integra Ultimate and IP-JET HP pages. PACODE describes Integra One IP’s IP65 protection as “perfect for applications in the food industry”.
A typical line needs two kinds of code: small, high-resolution dates and batch numbers on the primary pack — pouches, film, foil, bottles and cans — and larger text, logos and codes on the outer carton. PACODE covers both, with contact and non-contact systems, and supplies Easysnap® single-dose sachets for liquid and semi-dense food products.

Best-before dates and batch numbers
IP-JET HP prints best-before dates, batch numbers, barcodes and 2D codes up to 600 dpi; X1JET HP codes absorbent and semi-absorbent surfaces with dates and text.
Date & batch coding - 02
Wet and dusty production areas
IP-JET HP is sealed and pressurised with IP65 protection and IP67 connectors, and can be wet-cleaned without covering the printhead. Integra One IP and Integra Ultimate are also IP65-protected.
- 03
Outer carton marking
X1JET MX prints large images, text, logos and DataMatrix codes directly on carton material; PACODE lists it for the food and beverage industry.
Carton & case coding - 04
Coding on packing machines
Hot ink roll coders print production dates and lot numbers on packing machines — the DK-802 works with intermittent packaging machines at up to 150 prints per minute.
